Lynda - Patient Story
Meet Lynda Saw
Throughout her life, Lynda had lost many of her teeth, leaving her with partial dentures in her upper mouth, and eight crowns. She had always hoped to have dental implants but had been told that the procedure simply wasn’t possible.
“After having an abscess many years ago, my jawbone became diseased,” said Lynda, “This meant I was left with very little bone. I really wanted to have dental implants, but I was told by several dentists that it couldn’t be done.”
It was after Lynda’s husband had dental implant treatment, that she visited his dentist, who examined her. He explained that it was possible, but the lack of bone meant the procedure would be complicated. Dr Peter Sanders was a dentist he regularly referred complex procedures to, and so he arranged for Lynda to visit Dental Confidence.
“Dr Sanders was great from the start, and immediately explained that, although it might be tricky, it could definitely be done. I was prepared to receive disappointing news but was thrilled to find out it was possible!”
Living with dentures and failing crowns
“I am someone who cannot cope with having dentures. I hate the feeling of having something foreign in my mouth and the crowns I had caused my gums to recede.” Adds Lynda. “Overall, I was very unhappy with how my teeth felt and looked. My crowns had been replaced twice, and now they were at the stage where there was little tooth left to work with, so finding Peter was a blessing! I discovered that it wasn’t that I couldn’t have implants- it was simply that I hadn’t found the right dentist.”
A new smile in a day
In a single appointment, after the necessary preparation and surgical planning, Lynda’s teeth were removed, and her implants were placed. This allowed for an immediate set of teeth to be securely retained as a prototype to test aesthetics and function, so that when the final teeth were made (after 6 months), any necessary changes to the colour, shape, or bite could be made. “
“I couldn’t believe that I had walked in with dentures and crowns and walked out with a full set of secure teeth- all in a single day. And the whole surgical experience was absolutely fine, it wasn’t traumatic in any way. Also, I wasn’t expecting the temporary teeth to look so amazing! They were great.”
“Now, I have the permanent teeth in which are perfect. Steve, the gentleman at Dental Confidence that adjusted my permanent teeth, wanted to get them just right. He made all the adjustments to ensure I was 100% happy. Now they look and feel completely natural. I can’t explain how thrilled I am with them.”
“I look back at old photos of myself, and I’m either not smiling or have my hand in front of my face, hiding my mouth. Now, I can’t stop smiling!” “I am 110% happy, and I’d recommend Dr Sanders and his wonderful team to anyone considering dental implant treatment. Dental Confidence have put a smile back on my face.”
